Do I need an appointment to get a tattoo?
Our shop accepts both appointments and walk-ins (when available). To set up an appointment, you must come in and meet with us in person. We require a $60 CASH ONLY deposit which will go towards the price of the tattoo. If you are getting a piece which requires multiple sessions, then the deposit will be held until the last session. If you fail to show up for your appointment, the deposit will be forfeited. However, if you contact us in advance, the appointment can be rescheduled. In some cases a consultation will be necessary before setting up an appointment: for example, for very large pieces or anything that will require a good deal of drawing (e.g. full arm/leg, entire back, etc.). A consultation can be done on the spot when available or you can call the shop to schedule one.

How much will my tattoo cost?
The cost of any tattoo will be set only once the tattoo is drawn out. The cost will depend on the size of the tattoo, the location on your body and the amount of detail in the tattoo. If you are trying to stick to a budget, we will gladly try to work within that. If you are getting a larger piece or a multiple session tattoo, you will be charged an hourly rate of $150.00. We have a $60.00 minimum on all tattoos except ones going on your hands, face, feet or neck, in which case we have a $100.00 minimum. We cannot price anything over the phone or internet, so please come in and talk to us in person.

What is the healing process like?
In general, tattoos take about two weeks to heal. During this period you do not want to soak the tattoo (in other words, no swimming, excessive bathing, hot tubs, etc.). Of course, getting the tattoo wet in the shower is fine. Washing the tattoo twice daily with warm water and a gentle soap is recommended. Make sure your hands are clean before touching your tattoo. Dry the tattoo with a paper towel and apply a thin layer of ointment such as A&D, Bacitracin, or Aquaphor. After about four or five days, it is also okay to use a plain, unscented hand lotion such as Curel, Lubriderm, Aveeno, etc. Be sure to rub the ointment into the tattoo. Do not leave the tattoo shiny or “wet” looking. During the healing period, do not pick or scratch at the tattoo. Do not expose it to direct sunlight for extended periods of time. Keep it clean and leave it alone!

What kind of procedures do you follow to maintain sterility?
All the needles we use are one-time use and come in individually wrapped and sterilized packages. Other equipment gets sterilized in an autoclave, or cleaned with a medical grade disinfectant after each use.

How old do you have to be to get a tattoo?
You must be 18 years old, with a government issued ID (state license, state issued photo ID, passport) to get tattooed. We check IDs for all clients. NO EXCEPTIONS!

Does getting a tattoo hurt?
Yes. The sensation of getting a tattoo is difficult to describe. It generally feels like a cat scratch or a hot scrape (or a sunburn while the tattoo is healing). The pain of getting the tattoo usually more “annoying” than extremely painful.

How do I choose a tattoo design?
The best way to start is by doing some independent research to get an idea of the style (e.g. Classic American, Japanese, Illustrative, Tribal, black & gray, color, etc.) and type of imagery that you prefer. Read Street Tattoo Parlour has a wide variety of reference materials as well, so stop in and take a look. Once you are here at the shop, you can discuss your ideas with an artist. We do everything from a simple design chosen from a Flash sheet to fully custom pieces, so there are a vast amount of possibilities.

What should I do if I have an existing tattoo that I am unhappy with?
Come in, talk to us in person and we will be able to provide you with options according to the size and appearance of the existing tattoo. In most cases, a cover up tattoo is the best option. Designs that work well for cover ups include, but are not limited to, flowers, snakes, dragons, Asian motifs, usually anything with a lot of black or a larger/bolder design than the pre-existing work. Other options include re-doing the original tattoo to make it more clear and bold, and, in worst case scenarios, referral to a reputable laser removal specialist. Again, the best way to figure out what will work for you is to come in and talk to one of our highly experienced tattoo artists in person.

How much do you charge for the drawing?
There is no separate drawing fee. It is included in the price of the tattoo. However we will not do a drawing for a tattoo until the $60.00 CASH deposit is received and the appointment is set.
